Parent letter HL

December 5, 2011 in by Andy Hill

Dear Parent / Carer

Homelearning is an important part of your child’s education and helps encourage independent learning.

I am writing to advise you that Stretford High School will be launching a new skills-based Homelearning Project for Years 7, 8 and 9 after the autumn half term holiday

There are specific projects throughout the year – please see the grid enclosed in this letter.

Departments have planned, resourced and will mark your child’s project, as indicated on the grid.

Whilst your child will continue to receive subject specific homelearning, it is important to point out that these skills-based projects are NOT optional – your child must complete the project to the best of their ability, meeting the deadlines set.

The first project for all year groups after half term is investigating different aspects of conservation:

Year 7

CONSERVATION – SCIENCE LED

The importance of Bees

Year 8

CONSERVATION – HUMANITIES LED

Save the Tiger from extinction – campaign

Year 9

CONSERVATION – TECHNOLOGY LED

Oil – the issues: the past/present and future: tell the story

Please keep the grid in a safe place so you know what your child should be working on, and so that you can support them in their learning.

Finally, this information will shortly be available on the school website.

If you require further information don’t hesitate to contact me on the school number or by email.

Yours Sincerely

V Baxter
