Subject Leader

Miss Saxton began her teaching career in Tameside where she taught at two secondary schools over a period of fourteen years.  She first came to teach at Stretford in 1998 and then went on to teach Art at Ashton on Mersey High School before returning to Stretford High School in 2000.

After being Head of Year 7 for five years and teaching in both the English and Art departments, she finally realised one of her ambitions, in September 2007 when she became Subject Leader for Art.

Mrs Roban attended an inner city school full of challenges; she had some amazing teachers and some terrible ones!! The inspirational teachers made her believe that she could do well even if others around her chose the wrong path. She was one of two pupils to go on to university from her year and always remembered how the teachers who believed in her made a difference.

She finished her design degree and went on to work in graphic design and the internet industry as a national business manager. Mrs Roban has always been passionate about art and appreciate many different styles from all eras. She decided to move into teaching to hopefully infect others with her enthusiasm for her subject but more importantly, inspire students to believe in themselves and help them to reach their full potential!

Jamie Crawford is the Technician for the Art and Technology departments. After completing his degree in Fine Art in 2008 he has worked a string of unfulfilling jobs before finding a position he loves, here at Stretford High School. Since joining the team he has developed his role from supporting the teachers and organising the departments, to supporting the pupils as well; utilizing his fine art expertise to advise and challenge them. As a published photographer for national art magazines, he has also begun to document students work for displays, the website and for their own documentation. As a consequence of the time enjoyed at Stretford High School, he is considering following a career in teaching where he can continue to inspire young minds.
